Canada sends $64 MILLION/year to China, so they can beat the crap out of us

Liberal in Canada are so confused that I’m convinced they have simply given up trying to figure themselves out, oh and also how in tarnation to run a country.  Almost as confused as I am trying to figure them out.

The idiotologists who run their affaires are clearly overpaid.  Then again, I’m sure lots of their salary ends up right back in the Liberal Party’s hands in donations, as we’re finding out in the sponsorship inquiry in which the Liberal Party through Chretien/Martin was (and we hope it’s “was” but we can’t be sure) involved in the biggest corruption scandal in the history of our nation.

On December 30, 2004, with the Asian crisis on my mind, I mentioned in a post that to my astonishment, Canada still sends millions in aid money to China every year—in the order of $54 million.  China is a country on the verge of taking over the world, economically, as sensible people know.  While our taxpayer millions feed their poor and malnourished, the socialist Chinese government (as compared to ours) spends their money on their military and on their space program, and on hiring workers to build products that they then ship to other nations for a price their own people couldn’t afford.

While the socialist nation of China has embraced capitalism and is moving in that direction to great success, the liberal-left in Canada is convinced that moving in precisely the opposite direction is more astute.  And of course it is more astute if you are in fact a socialist.  I mean if you’re a capitalist, you’d hardly move toward socialism and continue on with a failing decrepit socialist health care system and introduce a socialist state-run nanny-state daycare system and operate state-run media (… ad infinitum).

While it’s altogether possible that liberals are high on the pot that they’re so eager to legalize, enabling our young’uns to get high much more easily so they’ll vote Liberal if or when they grow up, I’m wondering if Paul (“we lead the world”) Martin is simply greasing the skids so that the next time his shipping company builds a ship in China (like his last two), rather than in Vancouver or Halifax, he’ll get a super good deal.

Bruce Garvey at The National Post is now taking up the issue.  He reports that the amount of Canadian lunacy aid is far higher than the amount I wrote in my post—he says it’s more like $64 million per year.

But Paul Martin is an old China hand. Back in the days when he was finance minister and multi-millionaire tycoon of a “blind” trust shipping empire he knew there were better shipyard deals to be had a lot further east than Halifax and New Brunswick. How about Shanghai, where the labour force that built two bulk cargo ships for Canada Steamship Lines International earns between $1 and $5 an hour, compared with $18 to $20 in Canada. That’s where the Bahamas-registered ship that bears Mrs. Martin’s name—Sheila Anne—had its keel laid.
