Barack Obama in uber elitist gaffe du jour

Sometimes, people’s worst can bring out the best in others.  Barack Obama provided the fodder this time around.

This is the fawning liberal media’s The Great Obama, speaking in California about what he apparently thinks are the poor, poor, “bitter” and “frustrated” folks in Pennsylvania.

“You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them … And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

“Bitter”?  “Cling to guns or religion”? Or “antipathy to people who aren’t like them”…?  Oh my.  Condescend much?  And by the by, what up with all that “hope” and the big new “dreams” and such, Prophet Obama?  Bunch o’ B.S., huh?  Guess so.

Hillary Clinton actually replied with what I think is a semi-brilliant riposte (let’s hope Bill doesn’t muck it up!):

“Americans who believe in the Second Amendment believe it’s a constitutional right. Americans who believe in God believe it’s a matter of personal faith. Americans who believe in protecting good American jobs believe it’s a matter of the American dream,” she said. “People embrace faith not because they are materially poor but because they are spiritually rich.”

And John McCain’s spokesman had his own opportunity to demonstrate balance and life from down here on planet Earth:

“Barack Obama’s elitism allows him to believe that the American traditions that have contributed to the identity and greatness of this country are actually just frustrations and bitterness,” McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said.
