Canadian family unit continues to vanish, as liberals planned

According to a study by the Vanier Institute of the Family, the Canadian family unit continues to deteriorate.  This is in stark contrast to liberal-left propaganda, but in direct correlation and accordance with actual liberal-left social policy.

The growth of common-law families, as well as single-parent homes and same-sex couples, are overtaking the “traditional” definition of a family, commonly defined as a husband, a wife and at least one child. For the first time it does not make up the majority of families.

In the 1981 census, 55 per cent of families with children under the age of 25 were legally married. That dropped to below the 50 per cent mark in 1991, and registered at 41 per cent in the 2001 census.

…The report says co-habitating couples made up just six per cent of all couples in 1991, compared to almost 14 per cent in 2001. And the proportion of common-law couples with children tripled during this time.

…Same-sex couples were also included in the census for the first time in 2001. They were defined as common-law couples, and the survey said they accounted for about 1 in every 200 couples.
