Don Martin: “NDP demanding too much” (…socialism?)

I’ve always said the NDP is, ironically, not very proud of what it is they actually stand for.  They’re afraid to “come out of the closet” with regard to their own political philosophy.  They never say that they’re socialists.  Their campaign ads don’t trumpet “socialism” as the way to Canada’s future, or “government ownership” and “world socialism” as the their vision of the world, nor eliminating free-market capitalism as the basis of our economy.  They never trumpet it as if they’re proud of it —quite the opposite.  They don’t like to remind Canadians that they’re socialists.  Talk about your “hidden agenda”. 

Jack simply asked for too much

Election call? Maybe. Extortion attempt? Absolutely.

That’s a full reverse thrust from what’s happening in the real health care world. And even for the Liberal party of pushovers and capitulation, it’s unlikely Paul Martin will humbly grovel before Jack’s ideological altar to avoid a defeat in the Commons.

After all, how can Paul Martin acquiesce to Layton’s proposed ban on doctors moving between public and private care operations? To find a classic violation of that scenario, the Prime Minister need look no further than his own personal physician, Sheldon Elman, who works in the public system while operating a Montreal clinic that’s an income trust listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.  […]
