The Town Square Forums operate a little differently than this blog section. Topics are brought back to the top of the forum section as people post comments to the topics—they don’t drift off the bottom of the page as they do here. So active topics are always on top.
And anyone can create their own topics—you don’t have to wait for topics to appear, as you do here.
The discussion forums are pretty new here, at least in their present form. We used to operate forums here using a different system—in fact that’s how this web site started. The forums were pretty popular with thousands and thousands of posts. But we abandoned that forum system in favor of an emphasis on the new blog system. Among the several problems in trying to operate both at the same time was that the blog required a separate membership and login from the forums.
But now we’ve got a forum system that rides right up alongside the blog and only one universal membership and login is required.
Many improvements must be and will be made to the forums but they’re really functional as they are now. There’s a forum category for suggestions though so suggest!
