U.N. envoy Strong loses job over U.N. scandal

image Maurice Strong, who is best known as a Canadian with huge Liberal Party ties including to Paul Martin Sr., and Paul Martin Junior (Junior’s our Prime Minister right now for those of you in denial), and the man who ran the liberal-left’s communist-like Petro-Canada—lost his job today over a growing list of revelations concerning the U.N./Iraq Oil-for-

Food

Saddam Palaces scandal.

But the liberals’ CTV Liberal*Vision report forgets all about Maurice Strong’s Liberal Party ties in the story!  How do they do it? Liberal Party sponsorship

Canadian businessman Maurice Strong has lost his job as the top UN envoy for North Korea, the United Nations said Monday.

The decision not to renew Strong’s contract follows criticism of the Canadian for giving a job to his stepdaughter and questions about his ties to a South Korean businessman accused of wrongdoing in the UN oil-for-food scandal.

Deputy spokeswoman Marie Okabe said in response to a question that Strong’s contract expired last week “and it has not been renewed’’ but gave no reason.

A spokesperson at Strong’s office in Ottawa said he was not there on Monday and no one else was available to comment.

Strong, who had been the UN point man on six-country talks aimed at persuading North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons programs, took temporary leave from his post on April 20 during a probe of his ties to Tongsun Park.

UPDATE (4:13 PM PDT): Shockingly, the liberals’ Globe and Mail went with the same Associated Press story and also forgot that Maurice Strong is manifestly a Liberal Party insider.

The state-run CBC division of the Liberal Party, apparently in a deep funk about it, have failed to report on it at all, but does link to that same AP story, which fails to mention anything about his Liberal Party connections.

    Here’s the actual major—most important—news on the multi-million-dollar state-run CBC.CA site right now:

I’m sure all this would be handled exactly the same if Maurice Strong was a Conservative Party insider with strong ties to Stephen Harper and other Conservatives.  I’m just so sure!
