Can you just imagine the blank stares and quiet resignation in the offices of the Toronto (“Red”) Star today? They’re probably discussing the idea of cancelling all future online polls since they clearly aren’t working. (Hat tip to several emailers).
Their own poll and its (obviously wrong!) result was only the start to their awful day. They also had to report on a brand new DECIMA poll released just a while ago.
New poll suggests 9-point Tory lead
OTTAWA — A new poll suggests the Conservatives have vaulted into a nine-point lead over the ruling Liberals with less than two weeks to election day.
The Decima Research poll, conducted Jan. 5-8, found Stephen Harper’s Conservatives had climbed to 36 per cent support among respondents who were decided or leaning and likely to vote.
Paul Martin’s Liberals, meanwhile, had plummeted to 27 per cent, their support among left-of-centre respondents eroded by the New Democratic Party while their support outside major urban centres and in Quebec was eroded by the Tories. […]
It couldn’t have helped when one of their star columnists, the “ultra” liberal Antonia Zerbisias, wrote, for the second time recently, that she agrees with points we’ve made at what she called the “ultra conservative” ProudToBeCanadian.ca (I referred to the first time here, and last week it was regarding this entry where she also commented). She’s ultra liberal but that doesn’t mean she’s not real smart!
