Toronto Star backtracks on story I blogged about yesterday

UPDATED BELOW

The Toronto Star has suddenly found out that their story about the Harper Conservatives (or what they refer to sneeringly, sarcastically, as “Canada’s New Government”) launching a secret ploy to use the evil power of the Conservative Party-controlled state to control the media message in Canada (or some such nonsense) is all wrong, now that they suddenly have actual factual information from the government which they amazingly didn’t have before going with their story anyway, just yesterday.

So today they posted/printed another story, backtracking on what they wrote yesterday.  Apparently before going with yesterday’s story, they couldn’t secure the answers to the question that they apparently never asked.  Amazing how that happens.

But it sure was exciting finding out all about those “documents obtained by the Star” and so on!

Apparently this is what passes for good journalism in Canada today.

I’ve been updating yesterday’s blog entry

UPDATE

The Toronto Star’s unsigned editorial today is risible.  Despite their own reporting today, which backtracks on their story from yesterday about the government supposedly building a government-controlled media center (oops—they’re not!), they continue to bash the Prime Minister anyway—this time using their secret weapon:  their patented Toronto Star pipeline into Harper’s very brain, which actually reveals what Harper’s inner, unspoken desires really are!  Even his “obsessive” ones!  (They’re psychologists, too, ya know!)

“…That speaks volumes about Harper and his obsessive desire to control and micromanage all aspects of media coverage and news dissemination, even by his own cabinet ministers, about his government…”

It speaks volumes about no such thing.  The only volumes being spoken here are about the totally biased and obsessively anti-Harper liberal-left media. And shoddy journalism, as I see it.

EXTRA:

Columnist Greg Weston of Sun Media’s Ottawa Sun enters the asylum, aping the Toronto Star’s talking points, which was also aped by CTV.ca in their two articles (once again despite the fact that nothing is happening except what they want you to believe is, or might be, or might have been, or whatever, we’ll report it anyway is happening).

Hey this is starting to look an awful lot like that “hidden agenda” caper that the media has done such a bang-up job of exposing!  And Halloween is coming up after all.  Boo!  Time to scare folks!  Monsters, witches, boogymen, Conservatives…

Oh yeah and the Conservatives are up in the polls.  Not related.  Nothin’ to see here folks.  Move along.
