The last one or two Star Wars movies I saw were trashy and boring and I won’t bother to see the latest one. Especially not after reading Paul Jackson’s latest column, now in our Columnist section.
Here’s a snippet:

Lucas now says he wrote the framework for the first Star Wars in 1971 in reaction to U.S. President Richard Nixon and the events of the Vietnam War. The latest Star Wars movie is a “wake-up call to Americans about the erosion of democratic freedoms” under Bush.

We just rented Team America which is now out on DVD—now that was worth watching. We laughed, and we saved a bundle, and Hollywood liberals were duly and soundly mocked. That’s value!
