They call me Mr. Johannesen, Mack.

Some time ago I reported that I actually — finally — answered a phone call from the Conservative Party, after they’d called me approximately 8,000 times (each time unanswered, and, annoyingly, they never simply left a message), and I’d had it up to here with their badgering of me and my family, asking for more of my after-tax money to support them.  I mentioned to them on the phone that for one thing, “you can stop calling me ‘Joel’, thanks”. (I also demanded they stop calling me, ever).  I reminded them that they didn’t know me from Adam (note that Adam has no last name), plus they were asking me for my money, and so they better damn well err on the side of a modicum of respect and go ahead and call me Mr. Johannesen, in a nod to the more traditional, respectful, and, dare we say, conservative motif.  And hey, almost as if they actually respected me.

I still get emails from them all week long addressing me as “Joel”.  Senator Mike Duffy constantly send me emails including videos faked to make me think that they were made by “Mike” exclusively for me — like I’m some sort of moron — and emails, all addressing me as “Joel” — as if me and “Mike” are buddies.

Well today (a whole nine days later!), I got one addressed to… Mr. Johannesen.  I’m so delighted by the awesome respect.

But I still won’t send them a check.  I don’t support the CBC or abortion, for example, as they do.
(PTBC OMBUDSMAN-LIKE CLARITY:  I do support the abortion of the CBC — just not the abortion of babies.)

EXTRA:
As per the above latter email from the Conservatives marked in red with the dire warning of a Liberal coalition— and for those mocking the “paranoid” concept of a Liberal and you’ve got to be kidding party coalition (beyond what they already share as progressives and arguably as socialists):  Here’s a headline at Globe and Mail today: “Bob Rae hints at Liberal-NDP accord”.  (Note that it’s not “Bob hints at…”)
