The Province newspaper lies by omission

Have ya heard?  The liberal media messes with your mind and re-writes history to fit their liberal-left world view and their anti-Christian, anti-conservative agenda.  I’ve said that eight billion times.  Apparently nobody cares because like environmentalists with cars, they keep buying gas no matter the cost.  (Actually, keep that whole “man-made global warming” thing in mind as you read on…)

So, not to condescend, as the Province newspaper is doing as you will see, but merely to make it more palatable to some, I appeal to cartoons to demonstrate, using this one tinky winky teeny weeny example found in this past weekend’s Province newspaper.  (The Province is one of the two major Vancouver dailies, both owned by Canwest Global.  Because we don’t geet enough of their agenda in Canada yet.)

Oh what a riot, huh?

Spot the intellectual dishonesty?  Probably not.  The liberal media has been uniformly deceitful about this.  Falwell: stupid dumb anti-gay moron Christian (who says things like “holy crap” in Heaven).  Nuttin to see here, folks.

image  Among the biggest “flaws” the robustly anti-Falwell (he’s a damn Christian dontchaknow!) liberal media repeatedly mentioned, starting an honorable 34 seconds after he died, was that in February 1999 he instigated a hit-job on the invaluable, innocent little “Teletubbies” cartoon show and “outed” the purple one for being a gay caricature—which any moron knows he is.  Oh what a travesty!

The Province editors even saw fit to bolster that oh-so-massive transgression—that awful “flaw” in Falwell—a flaw so bad we can all laugh about his utter stupidity now that he’s good and dead—by highlighting a li’l quote by Falwell and providing a further, more full explanation (you know these kinds of jokes: apparently the anti-Falwell joke cartoon is so lame that it had to be explained).  The Province wants nothing more than for its readers to know all the facts.  Especially when it’s joking about dead people and Christians!

In actual fact, Falwell was about a year behind most liberal media sources like the Toronto Star in “outing” that idiotic purple thing.  But the Province doesn’t care.

Here’s some quotes from the various liberal media, before Falwell caught up to the liberal media, and joined in their assessment:

“Tinky actually became a gay icon in Britain because, for no apparent reason, his voice is male but he sometimes carries a flashy red purse.”
—The Toronto Star, April 6, 1998

“And what’s with Tinky Winky, whose voice sounds strangely mature and who sometimes carries a red handbag?”
— The New York Times, April 6, 1998

But today many forms of gender nonconformity have actually become mainstream. . . . Even Teletubbies, a show for toddlers, features Tinky Winky, a boy who carries a red patent-leather purse.
— Time Magazine, July 20, 1998

“Gays have championed Tinky Winky and his beloved red purse, and night-clubbers have adopted the show as a sort of druggy daydream.”
— Newsweek, April 6, 1998

“Tinky Winky, the heaviest, looks a little like an eggplant with cellulite. He also sometimes carries a red purse, which has won him popularity among gay viewers.”
— The Washington Post, April 06, 1998

Tinky Winky was “out and proud,” and it is “a great message to kids—not only that it’s OK to be gay, but the importance of being well accessorized.”
— Michael Musto of The Village Voice

Tinky became quite the celebrity, especially after gay-rights groups fought for his reinstatement, partly because Tinky Winky has a male voice but skips about Teletubbyland carrying a red purse.
— Fort Worth Star-Telegram (Texas), April 6, 1998

“The way the original Tinky Winky carried his tote-bag-size red purse reportedly made him a gay icon in Britain.”
— Time Magazine, July 20, 1998

Why didn’t the Province highlight the quotes from the Toronto Star?  Here’s why.  They’re anxious to protect gay cartoon icons over real life Christian ones—and in fact are anxious to utterly destroy Christian icons, as I see it.  And because the Province, as I see it, is intellectually dishonest, and has an agenda to drive.  This cartoon, and their bolstering quote, betrays what I see as a careless disregard for facts, and therefore a rather piquant example of their anti-Christian—or at best, callous disregard—for Christian icons.  I sense that they’d never take such liberties with a Muslim. Or a gay.

In re-writing facts to suit their world view, they’re either agenda-driven, monumentally stupid, or so careless that they no longer warrant your readership.  But if you’re going to read it, at least know that they’re blowing greenhouse gas laden smoke up your arse.
