Obama saves GM by letting it go bankrupt after saving it from bankruptcy with $100 zillion in cash! Or something! Whatever! Just remember, Obama saved GM!
The argument the liberal-left is putting out there today is that If GM succeeds and somehow moves forward past bankruptcy after getting those scant countless tens of billions in taxpayer cash, why then President Obama will come out as Mr. Golden W. Boy, having saved General Motors, and by extension America as we know it. No no hang on let me start that again. Mr. Obama was already their Mr. Golden W. Boy. He will come out painted up as Mr. Super Shiny Golden Delicious W. Boy, America Savior.

But let’s slam on the brakes on that lemon. I imagine after throwing untold tens of billions of taxpayer dollars at anything (with the possible exception of something the size and myriad complexity of Canada’s North Korean-style monster, its decrepit bureaucratic nightmare of socialist experimentation, its healthcare system, in which it has been proven that the more taxpayer money you throw at it, the worse it gets), anything can be shown to succeed in some way, shape, or form, at least for a while.
Far from ingenious stick-shifting of this symbol of capitalism and a display of expert Presidential re-engineering and maneuvering, it would take a special kind of stupid for General Motors not to survive out of bankruptcy at this point. And yet that’s the goal post the liberal-left and its media is now setting up for us to gauge Obama success, post abject failure.
And so the left has things exactly where they want them.
All the real capitalists and all the real conservatives among us agreed from the get-go that GM should have filed for bankruptcy protection months ago—before any taxpayer cash was doled out to “save it from bankruptcy”. Give them no “bailout” cash and no “stimulus” but rather, let capitalism take its course, we said, as if speaking to a wall of bricks. But they didn’t listen. And as GM is now in bankruptcy, Obama already failed. Read that again: Failed. Miserably. His gamble of countless BILLIONS in taxpayer cash failed. He lost the bet. Yes Obama already failed in that regard.
But that’s not what’s reported. Liberals and their media have simply moved the goalposts. Now they’re setting things up such that if GM survives bankruptcy (by golly it’s a miracle!), they will say Obama saved GM — saved the day. Saved America.
You’re literally at the beginning of an historic re-deployment of Soviet-style history book-writing based on more left-wing political legend — pure mythology and bunkum, being written, in our lifetimes. You’re a witness. And you’ll soon see this written up in all the history textbooks that your children and their children will read — as an Obama victory. Even though it was precisely the opposite.
