Swinging Liberals may switch partners

Liberals are flakey, what with them switching parties like their constant switching of political positions on even the most fundmental of all basics of life like “family” and “marriage”.  That’s what happens when you have no solid principles or absolutes.

Therefore I’m forced to once again quote this oft-repeated Ann Coulter quote—this must be the 3,000th time but I don’t care—because it takes many repetitions before liberals actually get it:

Swing voters are more appropriately known as the ‘idiot voters’ because they have no set of philosophical principles. By the age of fourteen, you’re either a Conservative or a Liberal if you have an IQ above a toaster.

I’m not sure who should be more embarrassed though—the Liberal Party, or the Conservative Party for courting them and playing footsie with them.  And by the way, why don’t a whole bunch of Conservatives go and join the Liberals?  All the pro-abortion people and pro gay marriage people and pot-smokers and protitution advocates and trans-fats banners and national state-run daycare program pushers should be in one identifiable group (called “Liberals”) so I know who to vote for and who to not vote for.

Pat O’Brien says he’s one of at least four Liberal MPs mulling overtures from Conservatives eager to capitalize on the sponsorship scandal.

That doesn’t include Edmonton MP David Kilgour, who will not attend Liberal caucus meetings until he ultimately decides to stay or bolt from the governing party.

O’Brien was all-but-declaring he was crossing the aisle Monday.

“I have the option to sit as an independent . . . or I could just stay as a Liberal and run again – that’s becoming less likely, I think.”

The Ontario MP said he has been aggressively courted by emissaries from the Conservative caucus.

“I have had in-depth discussions with senior elected people in the Conservative party in the last few days,” O’Brien said.

“The welcome mat is very much out for me to come to their party. I’m being encouraged, in fact, to do that.

O’Brien has been out of step with his party on social issues, particularly same-sex marriage. But his discomfort has been growing with each revelation of malfeasance from the Gomery inquiry. And he insisted he might not be the only Liberal MP who will defect.

“Three (Liberal) backbenchers have told me they’ve been approached by the Conservatives besides me . . . I’m sure there’s more, frankly.”
