Liberal-left fundamentalists are coming to the rescue of suspected terrorists. Why would they do that? Whose side are these people on anyway?

Accused terrorist Hassan Almrei getting support from Sacha Trudeau
An accused terrorist is getting some high-profile support in Federal Court. Syrian national Hassan Almrei has been held in solitary confinement since October 2001 and wants to be released while Ottawa assesses whether he poses a security threat.
Among his supporters are Alexandre (Sacha) Trudeau, who has offered $5,000 bond.
In an affidavit presented to the court, Trudeau says he is concerned about Almrei’s lengthy detention in solitary confinement.
Trudeau is also confident Almrei will comply with the conditions of a release order.
Other supporters include writers Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis, who have offered $200 bond, and journalist Heather Malik, who has offered $100 bond.
[Snippet of information I found about Malik said this: “Her stated aim in journalism is to advance the cause of feminism, leftyism and Canadian nationalism, while adding to the gaiety of the nation.” And that was written on a pro-left-wing web site. —Joel]
Lewis and Klein say they don’t know Almrei, but they attended a fundraiser earlier this year with other prominent Canadian writers like Stuart McLean and Linda McQuaig.
The fundraiser was meant to help people being held under national security certificates.
