Reader Maureen writes asking how a Canadian tells the Liberal Frenchman Stephane Dion that he doesn’t speak for her, when he says “Canadian”, as in this article:
Here’s the thing: Liberals in general always talk as though everyone in the room agrees with them. They frequently confuse “Canadians” with “LIBERALS” and the related “SOCIALISTS”—in fact they do it all the time, mostly as a result of the extreme arrogance and elitism instilled in so many of them. They then reflexively refer to “Canadians” when what they really meant was “socialists”, or “nutbars”.
They’re a weird tribe. Not to worry. The terms “Canadian” and “Liberal” are not really interchangeable as we in the sensible set all know.
Don’t vote for anyone remotely liberal. Tell your friends not to, and tell them why. And when liberals speak of their ever so earnest concerns with regard to the “man-made global warming” (or the term “climate change” which they use on cold days), grab your wallet, because they’re after your cash.
