Powerline quotes a BBC report which sheds light on the mindset of the Europeans who, either because they’re against the death penalty being used on Saddam Hussein or because it legitimizes the American-led invasion and overthrow of Hussein, avoid being involved in the unearthing of bodies in the latest mass grave found in Iraq. And of course that slows down the effort to bring justice and peace and closure to those who deserve it. But you know, priorities….

The BBC reports the horrible details of the excavation of an Iraqi grave near Mosul: “US-led investigators have located nine trenches in Hatra containing hundreds of bodies believed to be Kurds killed during the repression of the 1980s. The skeletons of unborn babies and toddlers clutching toys are being unearthed, the investigators said.”
This particular excavation is part of the process of uncovering mass graves throughout Iraq. However, according to American investigator Greg Kehoe, the work is going slowly because experienced European investigators are not taking part. The Europeans, says Kehoe, are staying away due to fear that the evidence might be used eventually to put Saddam Hussein to death.
