Science shmience. We got us a liberal-left agenda to run heeya!

Another guest expert—a fellow who described himself as a scientist—just appeared on CTV Newsnet, there to scientifically justify the continued federal taxpayer funding of the heroin injection site in Vancouver for the heroin addicts.

Evan Wood represents the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV.
imageIt’s a “moral issue”, the li’l science warrior told us.

When liberals demand things, they immediately become “moral issues” (“man-made global warming” is a “moral issue”).  Apparently not funding the site would be, and I quote the scientist, “highly immoral”.  Once again, that’s “highly immoral”.  It’s measurable!

By the way, his first words as a guest expert scientist on the notion that the federal government isn’t keen on continued funding:  “I think this is a scandal!”

Apparently he’s a rather testy political “scientist”.

He explained to us that the neo cons (he used the more scientific “neo-conservatives”) in Ottawa are ignoring and supressing and manipulating and have been dishonest about the science.  I guess this is part of the scientifically-proven Harper Conservative / George Bush / neo-con “war on science” that they’re always on about.

He explained, scientifically, that the Harper Conservatives, who he said other fellow scientists described as “neo-conservatives”, are pursuing an “ideological agenda” about this injection site —instead of a scientific —or moral, or liberal—agenda, one presumes.  Nobody laughed after he said that.

Well what’s going to happen next?, ace reporter Mi Jung Lee (of Vancouver, who may possibly have read reports in her own city’s newspapers, and at her own CTV network web site in which it is reported that a great many—including the liberals’ beloved U.N.—are opposed to the injection site) asked him gently, as if with a feather stroke.  Well, he responded, he’s a scientist, and he’s working at arms-length with (the totally federal and provincial taxpayer-funded) Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, so, as he explained, he’s “certainly not an activist”

No.  Certainly not. That would be “highly immoral”, perhaps!  “War on… um, conservatives”-like!  Maybe “manipulating” the media and the popular group-think out there!

But the reporter simply responded to that bit of hilarity by hitting him back with this piquant refutation:  “Thank you so much for coming in!”

EXTRA:

CTV.ca poll today (at 9:56 AM PDT):
Would you support an expansion of Vancouver’s supervised safe-injection site?
Yes 37%
No 63%

Note that that isn’t a scientific poll.
