Review the CBC? That doesn’t mean we have to watch it I hope.

Here’s a tiny news item found today in our local paper (hat tip to my wife, smooch):

Tory MP to assist in review of the CBC

Well that’s funny because that’s sort of what I do every day—assist in a review of the state-run CBC.  But of course I do it for free and I encourage sensible folks to assist in bringing it to an end, full stop.  I would like to offer to continue to assist in an effort involving the horrid state-run media being abolished and outlawed and that a prohibition against state-run media be enshrined in our Constitution.

OTTAWA—After questioning the importance of CBC television and recommending substantial cuts to its government funding, Conservative MP Jim Abbott will now assist Heritage Minister Bev Oda as she ponders a sweeping review of the public broadcaster’s mandate. For the past five years, the CBC received an annual $60 million funding boost for special programming initiatives that has still not been confirmed for renewal by the Conservative government. But a spokesperson for the minister insisted the government was committed to a healthy broadcasting environment, overall.
