I just read Barbara Kay’s latest column and really enjoyed it. She relayed exactly what I do when I read reviews about most Canadian authors nominated for those “prizes”. I don’t think I have never read the particular author she is referring to, but I have read the covers of those books and that was enough to put me off.
I know you were saying that Barbara is not always on topic, political and such, but sometimes it’s nice to read a piece written by a conservative that is not about those things because conservativeness seeps into every facet of your life and reading this column was a nice thing to do while I was eating my lunch.
Thank you for what you do!
Jo-Anne
Jo-Anne,
Barbara Kay warned me when I first approached her about posting her column here that she’s not always about “politics” per se. I knew that, and knew that even in her non-political columns, there’s a great thread of wisdom, and almost always a nice shade of true blue small-c conservative thread running through.
And you can see from that sentence that she’s the one who gets paid to be a writer.
