Progressives keep whining. Capitalists keep progressing.

imageWhile ever so “progressive” liberal environmentalist industry lobbyists and pundits continue to whine and lament over every single puff of smoke out of every smoke stack and everybody’s-but-their-own SUV and lawnmower, and continue to put out report after (often) bogus report, wasting more and more (often) public money, and protest and disrupt trade and industry all over the place constantly, and come up with report after tedious report blasting industry and private enterprise (hello David Suzuki!); actual progress is being made and work is getting done ….by ingenious, capitalist, private enterprise individuals.  As usual.

By way of infinitesimally small example:  A handful of companies are getting closer to creating viable commercial power-generating machines that use the ocean’s tides, waves, and currents to generate electrical power.  They operate underwater turbines of one sort or another which harness the power of the tides and turn it into electricity not unlike windmills do on solid ground.

A consulting company hired by state-run B.C. Hydro says that based on realistic assumptions for near-future technology, B.C.‘s tidal-current resources could account for 40 percent of Hydro’s current annual power generation.

Calgary based EnCana Corp., Clean Current Power Systems, Canoe Pass, and Blue Energy Canada have all got their oars in the water.

Clean Current is about ready to start a $4 million-dollar tidal-power project at a location called Race Rocks, near Victoria.  Canoe Pass hopes to have a commercial development ready by 2007 in the waters between Vancouver Island and the mainland.  Blue Energy hopes to get a demonstration-education project going near Stanley Park in Vancouver.

This tidbit of news scarcely scratches the surface.  Work is being done all over the world and great progress is being made.

I just thought I’d let you know or remind you of what’s actually going on quietly behind the scenes, as the liberal media continues to largely ignore the fantastic progress and contribution that private enterprises—and the real, actual Canadians individuals behind these enterprises— are making for the betterment of our nation and our world.  They go unrewarded and remain unknowns for the most part but do more to advance our lives than most.
