Pride cometh before a Faull

Yesterday, I got a hate mail from a feminist at Bucknell. I will do the same three things with this hate mail that I have done with so many others. First, I will reprint it. Second, I will ridicule it. Third, I will submit it to my editors for financial gain. The first order of business is the reprint:

From: Katherine Faull
Subject: RE: Buck naked at Bucknell

In response to following story on townhall.com:
[editor’s note: at ProudToBeCanadian.ca]

Mt [sic] Rupprecht has not been given permission to reprint my email to him in your column and certainly not to publish my professional email address. Please retract your request to write to me immediately.

Further, I am not the director of WGS and had no part in the invitation of the Sex Workers Colleective [sic] to Bucknell and did not even attend the event.

Your tactics betray your motives, Mr [sic] Adams. You do your cause no justice by participating in this rabble rousing.

The next order of business is the ridicule. I will highlight the ridiculousness of Professor Faull’s response with a series of questions so simple they could be understood by a woman’s studies professor or a prostitute. They follow below:

1. Mt [sic] Rupprecht did not reprint your email in my column. I did. Why would he need your permission for me to do something?

2. Your email address is already posted on the internet. Why can’t I publish it elsewhere on the internet?

3. Why did you use the word “immediately” after using the word “please”? Do you honestly think that I take orders from feminists? Do you know who I am?

4. The article did not say you are (or were) the director of WGS. The article never said you were the director of anything. How is that relevant?

5. Did you know that I am not the Governor of North Carolina? Please don’t ever say that I am the Governor of North Carolina.

6. What is a Colleective?

7. Are you implying that the school should not have invited the sex workers (read: whores) to campus? Are you judging the whores? If so, on what basis? What have whores ever done to you?

8. Do you really think that my rabble rousing does “no justice” to my cause? If so, why are you cluing me in? I never told Howard Dean to stop screaming.

9. Finally, why did you refuse to cosponsor Christina Hoff Sommers? Some more information on her work is copied below – just before my final question to the feminists at Bucknell.

Christina Hoff Sommers is a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C. She has been a professor of philosophy at Clark University since 1981. She specializes in ethics and contemporary moral theory and has published many scholarly articles in such journals as the Journal of Philosophy and the New England Journal of Medicine. Sommers is editor of Vice and Virtue in Everyday Life—one of the most popular ethics textbooks in the country. She became known to the wider public as the author of Who Stole Feminism? How Women Have Betrayed Women. Her book The War Against Boys received widespread attention and praise and was excerpted for a cover story in the Atlantic Monthly. It was included in the New York Times “Notable Books of the Year” in 2000. Her most recent book, One Nation Under Therapy, co-written with Dr. Sally Satel, has received a great deal of attention and critical acclaim.

Her articles have also appeared in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, USA Today, the National Review, the New Republic, and the Weekly Standard.

Sommers has appeared on programs such as Nightline, ABC Evening News, the Oprah Winfrey Show –and twice on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. During her appearances she would discuss such topics such as moral education, the strengths and weaknesses of the women’s movement, the plight of boys in the nation’s schools, and one nation under therapy. Profiles of her have appeared in the Boston Globe, the Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the London Times.

10. Once again Professor Faull, ([email protected]) why did you refuse to cosponsor Christina Hoff Sommers’ speech at Bucknell? Was it a simple case of intellectual bigotry? Or was it because Dr. Sommers is not a prostitute?
