Poll says most Canadians support combat (“fighting”, Jack!) military role in Afghanistan, etc

DESPITE the liberal media and the liberal-left’s incessant blathering about every single negative aspect of the war on terror, Canadians remain stubbornly sober and sensible and patriotic and freedom and democracy-loving, and sense our responsibility to fight for it all because they annoyingly (to liberals) realize that there is a cost to freedom.  In other words, they remain true to our Canadian traditions and heritage and fighting spirit.

Damn those Canadian voters, huh liberals?  Damn them and their common sense.  You liberals were right about not trusting Canadians to do the right thing with their freedom!  They WILL spend it on “beer and popcorn” of sorts, if they aren’t reigned in by you by your laws and policies and dictates!  Damn that freedom from liberal-left rule!

Majority back Afghan-style fighting, if cause is just

OTTAWA—A majority of Canadians support military participation in “conventional combat missions,” such as the Afghan counter-insurgency, as long as they’re convinced the cause is just and progress is being made, according to a new poll conducted for the Canadian Defence & Foreign Affairs Institute.

The survey revealed that 55 per cent of Canadians are willing to send troops into danger even if it leads to deaths and injuries as long as they believe in the military’s goals.

“Some people might be surprised to see the level of Canadian commitment to getting on the playing field and not just sitting on the grandstands when it comes to military combat missions,” said Greg Lyle, managing director at Innovative Research Group Inc., which carried out the survey.

Only 19 per cent of respondents said they’ve always been firmly opposed to combat missions, while 23 per cent said they’d be willing to send troops, but that casualties would affect their level of support.

The survey also reveals that most Canadians SUPPORT THE MISSION.  But here’s a bit of frustration:  The poll also provided ample evidence of the Euroliberal influence taking hold among the Euroliberal wannabe liberal Quebecers.    Approval among English-speaking Canadians is 59 per cent, while support among French speakers rests at 38 per cent.

In other words, take Quebec out of the picture, and support among the rest of Canada is even higher than the stats reveal.

And lest there be any question about the mission being noble and just and that we’re (and apologies to the liberal-left in Canada but when I say “we’re”, I mean the Americans too since they’re on our side though I do realize that’s against your wishes..) making progress and we can win this thing.  I posted this video in a blog entry yesterday that you should watch bearing in mind it’s about the progress in Iraq.  Even more progress is being made in Afghanistan.
