Over half of the respondents “don’t care”. I’m only surprised the esteemed pollologists at cnews.canoe.ca accidentally confused the word “Afghan” for “Stone-age savage Taliban terrorists caught trying to kill Canadian soldiers and propagate another 9/11”, because their unfortunate choice of the word “Afghan” insinuates that plain old “Afghan” folks were detained by our Canadian soldiers, which is generally not the case. So I corrected it for them.
I find that if poll questions are correctly phrased, the results are likely to be more accurate. Many liberals and the even further leftists would love for Canadians to believe the war is ON Afghanistan and against Afghans, rather than IN Afghanistan and against savage stone-age terrorist so-and-sos, and that a positive outcome (i.e., we win) benefits them as it does us.
For those of you playing at home, “I don’t care” is a perfectly understandable answer, especially given that the Taliban don’t care one whit about torturing us; and since one of the optional answers wasn’t “They’re lucky they weren’t shot dead in the battlefield”. And in fact, I’m betting many people who answered either “Yes” or “No” instead of “I don’t care”, suffixed their answer in their own heads with ”…but I don’t care if they were”.
