CKWX radio in Vancouver (“News 1130” on the AM dial) is an all-news station that’s on in our house quite a bit when we’re not watching or listening to Fox News Channel to get reality.
My wife mentioned to me the other day that CKWX almost sound like they’re not overtly liberal shills—as the rest of the media in Canada largely and most assuredly is. Of course my eyes popped out pretty far when she said that.
Just now, she heard them describe a deadly situation in Iraq as one in which a “suicide terrorist”—not a “suicide bomber”—a “suicide terrorist”—blew himself up.
Well now we’re talking!
On my favorite fair and balanced TV news channel, Fox News Channel, the newscasters there routinely refer to them as “homicide bombers”. That’s good too. I like the reality rather than the obfuscation.
Of course over at the state-run media, the CBC “news” “reporters” and anchors call the war on terror the “so-called war on terror”—so they’ve got a long way to go before they speak in real terms. And that’s even before they join us on our side of the war.
CKWX is a Rogers Media-Broadcasting station.
