Ontario: Province courting gay physicians

Ontario will attempt to lure disgruntled gay and lesbian U.S. medical professionals to the province, Health Minister George Smitherman said yesterday, after finishing a two-day soft sell to a gathering of gay health workers in Montreal. Smitherman, who became Ontario’s first openly gay cabinet minister in 2003, said the province was capitalizing on Canada’s image for left-leaning values – which includes gay marriage legislation.
