I’m still mystified as to why the Progressive Conservative
premier called an election. (Fixed election dates now!)
MacDonald vows to make minority government work
MABOU, N.S. (CP) – Nova Scotia Premier Rodney MacDonald vowed Wednesday to make his latest minority government work.
In an early-morning interview in the town hall where he gave his election speech a few hours earlier, the Tory leader didn’t rule out forming a coalition with an opposition party but said he wants to rule on a issue-by-issue basis.
“Not much has changed in the last 24 hours,” conceded MacDonald, who failed in his gamble to turn a tenuous minority into a majority.
[…] The New Democrats won 20 seats and the Liberals nine.
The you’ve got to be kidding party is still taken VERY seriously in Nova Scotia. They’re not kidding there at all, according to Nova Scotians.
The snicker of the day, if you can find one here, is that the Liberal leader failed to win his own seat. The Liberals did historically badly.
