“Noriegas of the North?” Yikes. Thanks liberals.

I never thought I’d say that I liked Canada being totally irrelevant and invisible to the rest of the world—as it has become after years of liberal-left rule which has seemingly reduced our value to the world to just that extent. But now that the liberal-left in this country is embarrassing us so, well maybe now it’s a good thing.  Maybe they planned it!

Actually though, in other parts of the world, it’s starting to leak out now that the liberal-left in Canada—and Canada by extension—isn’t honest, tolerant, compassionate, yadda yadda yadda, but is rather a corrupt country, led by power-hungry, undemocratic, and scheming liberals.  And the fact that Canadians are fully apprised of these facts and yet do nothing about it—in fact they endorse it at the polls—is what causes a loss of respect.  The world (even Canadians!) loves nothing more than a people who stand up and fight against a corrupt regime and force a move toward the moral, the right. (Of course Canadians tend to officially sit on their duffs and watch events unfold on TV and cross their chubby fingers hoping the good guys will win, rather than actually help them…)

Because it seems as though Canadians buy into this political duplicity despite there being one good honest alternate choice, it embarrasses me as one of the good guys.  I’m lumped-in—we’re all lumped-in—with the liberal-left who willingly vote for these people, and vocally support them at cocktail parties and at water coolers.

How embarrassing. And what a way to live—living to feel not pride in one’s country and its actions, but embarrassment.  Of course the liberal Canadians don’t see it that way—nothing embarrasses them. Somehow, they’ll find excuses and obfuscations and spin to explain it away rather than abandon their team, face the facts, and affect actual change. Maybe they’re quietly hoping somebody else will stand up and fight. That’s the liberal Canadian way after all.

Liberals are for this state of affairs.

Noriegas of the North?

Canada, squeaky clean? You jest. The nonstop revelations in Canada these recent weeks of federal corruption are hilariously reminiscent of the good old days of Tammany Hall where mysterious little tin boxes produced bundles of unaccountable cash.

Except it’s not quite so hilarious since Canadian Liberal governments, from their Trudeauvian celestial perch, enjoy preaching morality to us Americans. Revelations at hearings before an independent government commissioner of corruption in the ruling Liberal Party have been so startling it led a Canadian columnist in the National Post to write words believed never before published in anti-American Canada.

“We’ve never had anything like the salutary shock to our system,” wrote Robert Fulford, “that Ronald Reagan provided for the Americans 20 years ago. … The tragedy of contemporary Canadian politics is that we never had a Reagan.”
