To “celebrate” the arrival of our monthly bandwidth overage bill, in which we’re billed for bandwidth exceeding forty (40) gigabytes per month (and yes we do that every month now!), I added some more “features” to our Support Us page, which now provides you with the “opportunity” to support us in automatic monthly installments (cancelable anytime), as well as the old but always delightful single contribution way. We like both equally. We’re a tolerant bunch.
Bandwidth, which is just one of the costs we face every month, is the term used to describe the amount of digital traffic that web sites consume on the internet’s myriad of wires and machines. Each of our site’s pages and associated files (graphics and audio) is a few kilobytes in size, and every time someone looks at one page or file, it generates traffic, which is tallied by our bandwidth provider, just like gasoline coming out of a gas pump. Luckily, it isn’t taxed by up to 40 percent per kilobyte, as gas is per liter by our governments. And luckily, our product burns absolutely cleanly, and when people consume our product it actually helps lower the bloviating gaseous hot air and smokey blather that blows out of liberal pie-holes. We’re an environmental bunch. So that’s good.
We buy a set amount of bandwidth in bulk every month. Recently we upped the amount of bandwidth we prepay for. We now prepay for forty gigabytes (that’s 40,960 megabytes, or over 40 billion bytes) per month, for a set amount of money. We are then charged extra money for the amount we use over and above that 40 gigabytes. Email and so on is not included in the tally, thank goodness. I won’t go into actual dollar amount details because that would exclude so many liberals from the conversation. And we’re an inclusive bunch.
It’s a bitter-sweet thing, then. The more we get charged, the better we’re doing. The bigger the bill, the more sand liberals are getting kicked in their faces. So far in October, as of this morning, we’ve kicked 4.11 gigabytes worth of sand in liberals’ faces. Poor victims.
As liberals are completely unaware, nothing is free. Somebody always has to pay for things. Except of course health care in Canada, which if I understand liberals correctly, is absolutely free. Magical fairies pay for it.
