NBC won’t show Madonna pretending to be Jesus

imageNBC is not doing well.  Ever wondered why?  Could it be… hmmm… that they’re…
S A T A N ?

OK maybe not.  But The Church Lady on NBC’s Saturday Night Live would have said that’s what it was.

And being afraid of being Satanized would explain why they decided to sanitize, somewhat, the pop/sex/liberal/politics star Madonna and her infamous crucifix scene on the Madonna concert NBC is broadcasting on November 22.

NBC says special won’t show Madonna on cross

NEW YORK—Backing away from a confrontation with religious groups, NBC said Thursday it has decided not to show pictures of Madonna mounting a Crucifix when it airs a concert special with the pop star next month.

[…] [the “mounting”]  angered some religious leaders, who called it a bad-taste publicity stunt.
She should have mounted a giant nutbar

[…] “NBC did the right thing, but the fact that it did not say why the offensive part of Madonna’s concert was cut shows cowardice,” said Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League. “What NBC should have done is to admit that since it refused to air the Danish cartoons that Muslims objected to earlier in the year, it felt obliged not to treat Christians in a discriminatory manner.”

Yesterday, NBC announced huge cuts in their news and prime-time shows, amid falling viewership and a loss of viewers to “the new media”, which is code for “the internet”.

NBC Universal announced sweeping cuts to its television operations Thursday, demonstrating just how far a once-unrivaled network must now go to stay competitive with YouTube, social networks, video games and other media outlets.

NBC Universal’s approximately 700 job cuts follow those of other media titans that are struggling to remain relevant as more people turn to the Internet for their news and entertainment. Over the last year, Time Warner Inc. has eliminated more than 6,000 positions. In July, Walt Disney Co. said it would pare 650 people from its film studio.

NBC executives said the bulk of the cuts would come from the TV unit, which makes up two-thirds of the company’s workforce. The news division could be hardest hit because it is the company’s most labor-intense operation and includes NBC network news, local TV station news, Spanish-language network Telemundo and cable channels MSNBC and CNBC.

COINCIDENCE?
In a related value-driven move, NBC has taken ad space at… conservative web site ProudToBeCanadian.ca, starting on October 24.  Seriously!  I’m kidding about it being related—it’s just a coinkidink.  But I note that the state-run CBC has never taken ad space here, nor has CTV (nor any Canadian media—only private American firms have really bothered so far).

Isn’t that special?
