More socialist-speak from the allegedly sober Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin yesterday, which reinforced his socialist bent:
Prime Minister Paul Martin says he’d like to trim taxes in future but for now, boosting social programs is his top priority.
“…because without those social programs we’re not going to be able to compete” …
Get a load of the backward logic of that last sentence. That is going into my upcoming 2004 awards for the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard a nation’s leader say. Ever.
Let’s turn the sentence into something that makes sense: “With all of Canada’s social programs, and the promise of still more to come, Canada is never going to be able to compete. Or improve. Or defend itself.”
