Monte Solberg, Conservative MP, blogger

imageMonte Solberg, Conservative Party MP from Medicine Hat and Official Opposition Finance Critic, is also the Parliament of Canada’s best blogger in case you didn’t already know.

If you don’t know of Monte Solberg, you really should.  He’s funny, a very quick wit, great in a debate, and smart as all get out.  Actually, if people want to know the face of the new Conservative Party in Canada, Monte Solberg would exemplify it nicely, to my way of thinking.

Monte blogs from all over.  While traveling, in airplanes, in bed, even in Parliament.  He clearly bought the optional belt clip for his trusty Blackberry.  Right now he’s blogging while on the BBQ circuit—traveling so much I wonder how he keeps track of where he is.

Toronto redux

Well actually I am no longer in Toronto. Peter Conroy (CPC Canadidate for Beaches) drove me out to Alliston, an hour north of TO, and its very pretty country out here, but back to Toronto for a moment. It hurts my western pride a little to admit this, but the health and well being of Toronto is hugely important to Canada’s future. Yet under the Liberals Toronto has been in a downward spiral. Toronto’s infrastructure is crumbling, smog gets worse, the traffic congestion is some of the worst in North America, and the handgun violence is like something out of a Die Hard movie.

Now remember that the Liberals represent virtually every seat in Toronto, if you can call it representation, and what have Torontonians got to show for it?

Well they have a lot of press releases to show for it, but press releases and $1.55 will still only get you an extra large coffee at Tim’s. Its actually quite hilarious that the Liberals have now announced the re-development of the Toronto waterfront approximately 63 times.

Thus far, according to my impeccable sources, the Libs have actually spent $25 million on the redevelopment and yet not a single shovel has been put into the ground and not a single blade of grass has been disturbed. Apparentlly the re-development of the waterfront is just a virtual redevelopment, and if you want to enjoy the fantastic new facilities you will have to do so in your mind, which is the only place that they actually exist.

Poor Toronto…all those Liberal MPs, all those Liberal cabinet ministers, and nothing to show for it except a good kick in the seat of the pants.

Hey, it has to be pretty bad when even a small town guy from the prairies starts to feel blue about how the Libs have bilked Toronto.
