The liberals’ media is all abuzz today with the kind of yummy news that always warms their hearts (and nothing else, by the way, most especially Earth): it’s a story being presented as yet another anecdote proving the “man-made global warming”. (I always put it in quotes—like air quotes—they never do naturally. Of course they never say “naturally”, either.)
As I always notice though, ever since they changed their terminology from “man-made global warming” to “global warming” to “climate change”, they so often just don’t tell you the whole story. For example, the big story today about the big chunk of ice falling off another chunk of ice in the Antarctic (and by God, this never happened in Earth’s history—no, not before Al Gore enlightened us!), they constantly and definitively refer to its cause as… “global warming”. Not “man-made” global warming, just “global warming”. (They usually reserve the term “climate change” for events which include abnormally freezing cold temperatures! It’s handy having two terms!).
But what happened to that “man-made” part in today’s big story with all the video and interview with the fancy British scientist? No, sadly, it’s not that they’ve had an epiphany. No, sadly, it’s the fact that by now, we’re all trained, like dumb cloned sheep, to know that the “man-made” part is implied of course.
But I want them to declare it in their stories, rather than chicken out and cower like liberals at Christmas services. Call it “man-made”! Come on—chance it!
No. Won’t do it. Too risky I guess. Guess they’re not totally sure. That’s weird, huh? And here we’re told “the science is settled”; and the debate: why, it’s “over”.
In 1993, Professor David Vaughan of British Antarctic Survey predicted the northern part of Wilkins Ice Shelf was likely to be lost within 30 years if climate warming on the peninsula were to continue at the same rate. Climate warming increases the volume of summer meltwater on glaciers and weakens ice shelves.
Nearly all the stories are like that CBC.ca story.
For an interesting balance—and unlike this web site which proudly touts its conservative advocacy, they do claim to be fair and balanced, right? —why not include some alternate points of views from other scientists? Like PTBC columnists? For example, this January 17, 2008 column by the junk science debunker Steve Milloy:
Manmade Antarctic Melting, Indeed
…First, standard climate alarmism claims that manmade emissions of greenhouse gases are warming surface temperatures. But not only is such warming not being observed in Antarctica, it’s actually getting cooler in western Antarctica, according to surface temperature analysis from each of eight NASA stations located there.
And this one:

Or any of these or several others:

• Will Al Gore Make Peace With Reality?
How come the liberals’ “fair and balanced media” (air-quote again!) crack research and fact-gathering squads always end their effort at the pro-“man-made global warming”, um, “facts”? How come no more fact-finding is deemed necessary? Come on all you intrepid “journalists”! Aren’t you interested in telling the whole story? Or are you, as I suspect, and as can almost be proven scientifically, just driving an agenda?
What are you all afraid of? Why don’t you tell the whole story, and let us decide?
Fairness alert!
