I did not have sex with that woman, “man made global warming”.

Editorial in Canwest (Canada.com) newspaper The Province this morning:

Let’s hope cooler heads prevail in climate debate

We hate to rain on the parade of the true believers in global warming. So we will leave that up to Phil Chapman, the first Australian to become a NASA astronaut.

Chapman, a geophysicist now living in San Francisco, says in The Australian it is time to prepare ourselves for the possibility of global cooling and another little ice age.

Chapman says the Earth’s average temperature has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade—and that all four tracking agencies report it “cooled by about 0.7C in 2007.” That, he says, is the “fastest temperature change in the instrumental record.”

His article was immediately denounced by green groups. And Chapman himself acknowledges it would be wrong to draw conclusions about climactic trends from events in a single year. But what he says about the recent lack of sunspot activity should give us all pause for thought.

It is clear the debate about global warming is far from over—and we must all keep an open mind about it.

… and please pretend we in the alarmist liberal media hadn’t already set our hair afire over the past several years, warning you dumb galoots that the world is coming to an end as a result of the “man made global warming”, and that there was simply no debating that “fact”.  And we’re sorry for calling those of you who have kept a cool head and an open mind about it… “deniers” and “flat-earthers” and “morons” generally….
