After Stephen Harper’s excellent speech around his historic motion to bring down the corrupt government this morning, a speech in which he reminded the House and Canadians that the Liberal Party was found to have been engaged in corruption, the Liberals were given their chance to answer the motion.
A Liberal Party MP (not the Prime Minister!) stood up in the House and said, and I quote:
Mister Speaker, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms Section 11 Subsection D says:
Any person charged with an offence has the right … to be presumed innocent until proven guilty according to law in a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal; […]
Yes, I’m serious.
That was their answer.
