Liberals want no part of defence of Canada or fighting terror abroad

Liberals are further revealing themselves for what they really are, and what they really want today:

They neither want to do everything humanly possible to defend Canada; nor do they want to go out there to fight tyranny and oppression and terrorism abroad before terrorists come here (and Canada is now nicely set up to be unable to defend against it if or when it hits our shores); and furthermore, they will happily allow those American soldiers who are liberal girlie-men to run away into Canada’s leftist, anti-American,  nanny-state arms.  I guess we can count them out if it ever comes to fighting for Canada, too.

The Windsor Star is reporting a double-whammy:  that Canada won’t fund the defensive missile shield program, and that Canada will welcome U.S. military deserters.

This should help mend relations with the Americans.  Vote Liberal.  Oh yes and death to America.

Prime Minister Paul Martin said Tuesday he does not believe the U.S. ballistic missile shield will succeed in shooting down incoming rockets, as he threw up new roadblocks to counter President George W. Bush’s strong appeal for Canada to join his continental defence plan.

Canada will not put any money into building the missile shield and it will not allow Washington to station rockets on Canadian soil as the price of participation in the multibillion-dollar program, Martin told Global National in a year-end interview.

In another issue that could cause friction with Bush, Martin said Canada was prepared to accept U.S. citizens who do not want to serve in the war in Iraq.

[…]

Later in the interview, in which it was not reported that he was drunk, so we have to assume he was sober, he uttered this gem in reference to whether or not the missile shield will ever work:

“Do I believe it could work tomorrow? I suspect there are very few people out there who testify that it could. Do I believe eventually technology could bring it to that point, in all likelihood, but I’m not a rocket expert”.

Not a rocket scientist, huh?  You don’t say.
