Liberals seem to be “All Mixed Up” according to Link Byfield

Link Byfield of the Calgary Sun writes another goodie, this one called: All mixed up and with a title like that, you have to know it’s about Liberals

Here’s the two lines that you should write out and add to your collection of great lines. He’s referring to (what I call) the Liberal Minister of Gay Marriage, Irwin Cotler: 

(1) “And that’s the arrogance part—the instinctive Liberal assumption that criticism of their values is somehow illegitimate.”

(2) “Now he has fallen into the Liberal cabinet mentality of treating the interests of his party, the government and the public as all one and the same.”

Don’t just read my snippet which I cut-off just when your head is about to explode—read the whole thing and avoid that looming aneurysm.

Sometimes it seems that the main qualification to be a Liberal cabinet minister is not intelligence but arrogance.

Breathtaking, Olympian arrogance.

On Tuesday, after hearing that two U.S. public interest groups are helping fund a Canadian advocacy campaign, the immediate response of federal Justice Minister Irwin Cotler was that American assistance should be illegal.

“Clearly,” he told reporters, “we have free speech. But at the same time, we don’t want public opinion mortgaged to the highest bidder.”

The U.S. groups in question were the Knights of Columbus and Focus on the Family, both of which are supporting their Canadian affiliates in the fight against gay marriage.

If gay marriage is legalized here, it helps left-wing groups in the U.S. promote the same thing there. American liberals always point to Canada as a wonderful model of state medicine and official bilingualism, so American conservatives want to help Canadians stop gay marriage.

Cotler said he’d see if there’s a way to ban American support.
