The liberal media reports it as an apology. And an “apology”, to a liberal, is different than that which is expected from the rest of us.
This is not an apology Liberal Senator Michel Biron for attending hearings and voicing support for Karla Homolka:
Senator apologizes for supporting Homolka
“I can hardly imagine the grief and pain that the families have suffered,” the letter reads. “I sincerely regret if any of my statements over the past few days have contributed to their pain.”
That is him expressing regret that his statements might have contributed to the pain of the victims’ families. That is not an apology.
Liberals are incapable of regret or embarrassment. I don’t remember the last time I heard an earnest apology from a Liberal.
Biron called Ontario’s application to place restrictions on Homolka when she is released from prison “unjustified” and compared it to something you’d see in a “dictatorship”.
“I have to give her a chance… I don’t consider her dangerous.”
Senator Biron, whom we pay, decided to go to Karla Homolka’s hearing some weeks ago. He sat beside Homolka’s lawyer to show his support for the convicted killer. Apparently Biron exchanged a slight smile with Homolka. Cute.
He’s not sorry for that lack of critical judgement—he’s sorry if his remarks caused any pain.
Chretien appointed him to the Senate and his CBC-reporter cum leader of all the land, Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson, bestowed him with the honor of membership in The Order of Canada.
That’s what liberals do.
