Liberal-friendly paper runs poll: Canadians answer “dump CBC”. Liberals cry…

Bear in mind that the poll (hat tip: “hedplug”, “The Patriot”, and other readers) is being conducted in a liberal-friendly and conservative-unfriendly newspaper which liberals all read—and the same paper whose TV columnist John Doyle bashed the possibility of Fox News Channel being unbanned in Canada by the state censors last year as some sort of a joke, because FNC is so, so, ever so “biased” and well, not hardly liberal-left or socialist propagandists at all!  In fact I wrote in a column nearly a year and a half ago (I called it “Couch Potato John Doyle is Not Left Wing, He’s Giddy”:

[…] John Doyle wrote in the Globe & Mail that Fox News should be aired in Canada … “so that we can all take a look, and get a laugh.” He later lamented at how pro-Fox News advocates deluged him with horrible email insults and bad filthy language, the likes of which he’s never heard before. He “reports” that this left him “so paralytic with laughter I had to call off the writing of yesterday’s column. I was incapacitated with hilarity.”

This from a “TV Critic” who sits on his ass all day and watches TV. He might want to visit a Liberal or Democratic Party web site forum and learn some of the language. Or read some of my emails from liberals and socialists. Or maybe a book or two about the Soviet Union or censorship. Or just get a grip.  […]

One wonders what John Doyle would say about that.  Would he be getting “a good laugh”?  Would he be “incapacitated with hilarity”?  “Paralytic with laughter”?  Methinks he might just be sobbing like a little girl, which has me positively chuckling.

UPDATE 9:22 AM PDT:

Coincidentally, a Conservative Party MP, Bev Oda, is making noises about whether Canada needs the CBC.  She said in the Globe and Mail:

“People are starting to question, if nobody’s watching CBC television, English language, then does it justify the utilization of those dollars in that way … If this [lockout] continues on for too long, there’s a lot of people—I’ve been reading the press and the letters to the editor—and there are letters there that are questioning ‘do we need a CBC?’ Particularly English-language television”.

But the Liberal Party’s chairwoman of the “Commons Canadian heritage committee” (yes, there is such a thing, because this is a Liberal Party government), Marlene Catterall, and NDP member Charlie Angus criticized Ms. Oda’s comments about the CBC.

You don’t say!

According to the Globe, Ms. Catterall said Ms. Oda’s comments about the CBC are “out of synch with the support she has heard”.  (I’d love to see some of that “support” for the CBC.)

“I don’t think that’s likely to get them any votes,” she said. “One only has to watch a day [or] an evening of American television to know that we have a significantly higher standard in Canada . . . and I believe having the CBC has influenced the standard of not only public broadcasting but private broadcasting in this country.”

So like the utter lies and deceit they perpetrate about our North Korean-style healthcare system (“it’s either our ‘free’ healthcare system, or we’re all gonna DIE … children will DIE …. under an American-style credit-card system!!”);  it’s either state run media, or it’s going to be American TV 24/7.  No (Canadian) CTV network, no (Canadian) Global network, no (Canadian) Chum group of stations, no (Canadian) CITY TV, no (Canadian) Sun Media station, none of the countless (Canadian) independents…

See how that works?

Vote liberal!
