Leo DiCaprio’s “man-made global warming” freak-out movie totally bombs

Even though our nation’s state-run CBC pumped the crap out of it over and over and over as if it were the biggest and best and most important thing to ever hit the big movie screens since Al Gore’s hideously stupid “An Inconvenient Truth” or Michael Moore’s many far left deceive-o-ramas that the CBC now repeats on their air over and over, Hollywood liberal Leonardo DiCaprio’s ridiculous The 11th Hour documentary has failed miserably at the box office.

I couldn’t be happier unless it had been funded by Al Gore’s millions or Michael Moore’s millions.  Unfortunately DiCaprio has earned so much cash from Americans and Canadians who keep going to his lousy movies that he won’t even notice the difference in his massive bank account.  It’s mere chump change—and a tax write-off to boot.

Here’s what I observed on Thursday, August 16, 2007 in a blog entry:

Here comes the agenda-driven state-run CBC’s free left-wing cause PROMOTION EXPRESS service!

I mentioned environmental genius Leonardo DiCaprio’s new “factual” “documentary” called The 11th Hour (it’s so scary, see?!) about the “man-made global warming” in my J-Lines the other day. The media down south has already elevated Leo as “a smart guy” (a co-host of a CBS News show), despite his unmentioned high-school droppy-outiness.

But naturally the agenda-driving leftists at the state-run CBC are way ahead of me with their free promotion express services that are used whenever a good left-wing cause needs free promotion.  They’re all over the upcoming debut of the “factual” “documentary”.

Here’s some still-captured screen shots from CBC “News”world today, teasing the audience about their “news” coverage about the opening of the “factual” “documentary”:

When the “review” finally came up, the “expert” “reviewer” was a guy from NOW Magazine—the magazine that I mentioned just yesterday (when they used another “expert” from them to educate us on another “fact”) which was founded by members of the Socialist League of Canada (see this blog entry).  They, of course, do not inform us of that factoid.  It’s the CBC.  It’s what they do. And how they do it.

“It’s VERY GOOD!”, the “totally objective expert” began.  Leo is “quite poetic!”,  he gushed on.  The “news” anchor, Sarika Sehgal, tossed leading puffball questions to him over and over and over, in her effort which was apparently designed to enable him—nay, to encourage him—to lecture Canadians about the “man-made global warming”, rather than actually review the movie, which they pretended was the whole point here.  But suffice it to say that the movie, as I said in my J-Lines, is PERFECT, and Canadians MUST see it.  It’s our moral duty, by golly!  I think I got that right.

So obviously it’s over to Fox News Channel now, for actual news and information, and fairness and balance, where they report, and let me decide.  A concept totally foreign to Canadians who don’t subscribe to FNC.

Despite that buildup by the fringe left moonbats at the state-run CBC as described in the above blog entry, here’s what one more honest reviewer who actually saw the movie wrote (and he’s no “denier” or “neo-con”—quite the contrary).  Unsurprisingly, it’s from FoxNews.com:

Leo’s Eco Movie Bombs

It’s a good thing Leonardo DiCaprio made so much money from “Titanic” a decade ago.

His environmental documentary, “The 11th Hour,” has been a total bust at the box office. After 18 days in release, the film has grossed only $417,913 from ticket sales. The 90-minute snore-fest is playing on 111 screens this week, but that number is likely to be reduced this Friday. The film will be sent to DVD heaven after that.

By comparison, Al Gore and Davis Guggenheim’s similar but far more engaging “An Inconvenient Truth” had already made $3.5 million by its 18th day of release.

I hesitated to say before “11th Hour” actually opened how mind-numbingly dull it was for fear that I would ruin it for those interested in the subject of global warming. But at Cannes, when the film by Nadia Conners and Leila Conners Petersen was shown to journalists, nearly the entire room fell asleep.

A Russian filmmaker told us afterward that she was the only person in the room who was awake at one point.

I can believe it. “The 11th Hour” is grindingly boring. Basically, a series of scientists, one after another, warn the audience that the world is coming to an end. These talking heads are interspersed with stock footage of melting glaciers. The film has the effect of Ambien — with no hangover post-nap.

[…]

With reviews like that, it’s truly hard to believe that the CBC or its panel of left-wing “news” producers or entertainment geniuses ever actually saw the movie before pumping it up with their scary “coming up…” graphics and then “reviewing” it so glowingly.  I personally rather suspect it was another totally deceptive political whitewash—a sound messing with your brains courtesy of the state-run media —an effort in their continuing effort to drive their left-wing agenda.  I suspect they couldn’t have cared less what the movie was about nor what it was actually like, nor that they saw it at all.  They wanted you to go and see it because it fit their world view—their agenda.

Hilariously, clearly, nearly nobody did see it, helping to prove the irrelevance of the CBC despite its over one BILLION dollars per year of taxpayer funding.

Which gives me another good chance to restate my mantra:  State-run and state-owned media should be banned in this country, and that notion enshrined in our constitution.
