Labor leader abandons Layton’s NDP

Martin catches a BuzzThe you’ve got to be kidding party suffered a major blow this morning.

And Paul Martin caught a Buzz.  And he also got the support of union leftist Buzz Hargrove.

Is it a case of mixed messages?  Not checking the days’ talking points?  Drained batteries in their Blackberries?  Who knows!  All I can tell you is that despite the huge news that Buzz Hargrove has abandoned the socialist NDP, as I understand it, the NDP is NOT under the threat of imminent collapse!  Not, I tell you!

At least none of the news media have mentioned that the NDP is “imploding” or “suffering its certain demise” as a result of “party-wrecking divisions within”.  Again, this is in contradistinction to the news about the oft-declared sure-to-be-dead Conservative Party, which inevitably follows an instance of a Conservative Party member emailing his dentist to report a loose tooth.

No, like the Liberals and their boo-fest at one of their “star” candidates’ parachute landing party last night, the NDP is rrrrrock solid!  The Conservatives, who are suffering none of the in-fighting of the two leftist parties, are “doomed”.  See?

Bolstered by Hargrove, Martin poaches New Democrat support at CAW meeting

The time-honoured Liberal tactic of poaching New Democrat support got an early start Friday as Paul Martin warned Canada’s largest union that only he and Stephen Harper stand a chance of becoming prime minister.

With Canadian Auto Workers president Buzz Hargrove at his side, Martin struck at the core of the NDP’s support base, telling 900 delegates at the union’s annual meeting that the election was coming down to “a fundamental clash of values” between Liberals and Conservatives.

Jack Layton put on a brave face as he waved goodbye nonetheless, flashing his famous used-car-salesman smile (made white by years of overuse of union-made “ZaZaZa-ZZZZing!” tooth whitener).
