Jim Travers says unliberal things at Toronto Liberal Central

The liberal-leftist Toronto Star (not that we should ever care what they have to say) does have a couple of good columnists, whether or not you or I ever agree with what they write.  One is Jim Travers(Hat tip: conservativegal)

Visionless Liberals running hard to nowhere

At the moment, Liberals are utterly lost. After careening through two years and two elections with Paul Martin, a party that once boasted it was the western world’s most successful no longer dominates the political centre, is out of fresh ideas and has no obvious leadership light to follow out of darkness.

Let’s hope Mr. Travers hasn’t only just recently cottoned to the fact that the Liberals have been bereft of ideas and leadership.  It’s been that way for ages.  His own paper disagrees with him of course as they endorsed the Liberals in the last election because they thought the Liberals were full of great ideas and great leadership, which must make for some interesting email exchanges.

[…] So what’s the Liberal response? It’s to declare that Stephen Harper is making such a horrendous start that they must be ready to fight an election now forecast for next spring.

Well yes but it’s not just “the Liberal response”, it’s manifestly the liberal-left and all their media response.  Does Mr. Travers not read his own paper?  The Toronto Star leads the way in doing exactly what he just said:  scapegoating Mr. Harper to cover over his early successes, and to cover up the deep Liberal internal divide and dismal future.  Mr. Travers confused “Liberal” with “liberal media”.  If this doesn’t prove that even the liberal media is liberal and even sees itself as liberal, I don’t know what will.

See this vitally important hard-hitting journalism as a prime example.  It’s a CTV story under the banner “Top Stories”.  I report; You decide.

UPDATE:  Reader Exile sent more:
·  Weighty Issues not new for me: Harper

· Harper upfront about his paunch

· PM takes flak about his weight in stride, declines photo op with film star

· Dr. Trent Smith used a picture of the prime minister savouring a can of soda pop to bring home a troubling message about the rise of obesity in the nation’s children

But anyway.

Travers’ last sentence is this:

A party obsessed with power is now hurtling toward nowhere.

…as I’ve said for about ten years.
