Thanks to some quick work by DC in YOW who was surfing some other sites, we find this tidbit of information about the Director of Operations for Jack Layton’s you’ve got to be kidding party, Ann McGrath.

Unless there was a typo at Elections Canada or there’s two Anne McGraths in Canadian politics, it seems she ran for the Communist Party in 1984 and got a whopping 137 votes. Seeing she would get nowhere at that rate, I guess she moved to the next best thing in 1995 and ran unsuccessfully for the you’ve got to be kidding party and got a whopping 713 votes.
At least the NDP can join the club and boast that somebody left another party and joined theirs. Surprisingly, they never mention this one though.
And now that she’s Director of Operations of the Party, I wonder if old habits die, or if they just crop up in policy decisions that the Party adopts.
