Michael Ignatieff is announcing his candidacy for leadership of the Liberal Party. Stephane Dion did it earlier this morning I think (his English was rough).
As I watch the big announcement on TV, it is apparent that Ignatieff, despite taking 30 years off as a Canadian resident, did not spend any of that time rehearsing his speech. He is reading every word off a piece of paper. His head is down nearly the whole time. Maybe he’s embarrassed.
He just said that he wants to make it clear that he wants the Party to be the party of the “center-LEFT”. He emphasized the “LEFT”.
Oh and he called himself a “progressive”.
He’s trying his hardest to sound poetic. It’s making me giggle just a little.
