[…] In the poll, conducted May 3-11 by Leger Marketing, 49 per cent of respondents said homosexuality is an abnormal condition, while 46 per cent said it is normal. The remaining five per cent said they didn’t know or chose not to answer.

“Results like these are the reason gay and lesbian organizations still have work to do,” said Christopher DiRaddo, a spokesperson for Divers Cite, the organizer of Montreal’s annual Gay Pride week and parade.

“People ask us if we really need to stage a parade anymore, and with these answers, obviously we still do,” DiRaddo said.

[…] Marriage of a family member with a person of the same sex was viewed favourably by 57 per cent of Canadians surveyed, but 28 per cent of respondents would refuse to attend a gay wedding if they were invited.
