Guess the ending!

Here’s a part of the story from about the middle of it:

[…] Roberts’s long treatise on what he believes is the U.S. government’s secret rationale for waging war in Iraq, published in the Globe and Mail newspaper earlier this year, ignited a storm of controversy.

Roberts wrote that the U.S. empire is in decline, saying its government had been hijacked by an oligarchy that has a secret plan for world domination. He wrote that President Bush is a tool of this oligarchy.

He was accused of being a conspiracy theorist, of anti-Americanism and of left-wing extremism. The last time he was invited to speak in the U.S., he was detained at the border by agents of Homeland Security. […]

And can you guess what happened?  Hint:  it’s a Canadian story!

OK here’s the ending:

Journalist Paul William Roberts, who covered two wars in Iraq, will be presented with a new award honouring courage in journalism on Thursday evening.

[…] The award will be presented Thursday evening at the PEN annual gala in Toronto.

As reported in the state-run CBC.CA people’s web site division of the Liberal Party.
