God Bless the Victims

I’d like to pay tribute to the victims of the Islamist terrorist attack which occurred in the United States fours years ago on September 11.

God bless the victims.

And God bless those who in the line of duty—not just duty to their country but to God—lost their lives in their effort to save others on that horrible day. And then also those who fought and are still fighting to win the war against terrorism; and especially those who lost their lives or who had their lives unalterably changed as a result.

And God give us all the strength and understanding and the will and the compassion needed to fight for what’s right and win the war against these evil people whatever it takes.

Here are a couple of good quotes I found this morning but I remember reading them four years ago too:

A great people has been moved to defend a great nation.

Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.

America was targeted for attack because we’re the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.

Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature. And we responded with the best of America— with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.

President George W. Bush,
Address to the Nation September 11, 2001.

And this one:

Look at that destruction, that massive, senseless, cruel loss of human life … and then I ask you to look in your hearts and recognize that there is no room for neutrality on the issue of terrorism. You’re either with civilization or with terrorists.

On one side is democracy, the rule of law, and respect for human life; on the other is tyranny, arbitrary executions, and mass murder.

We’re right and they’re wrong. It’s as simple as that.
