The correct answer is “yes”. So you can imagine my surprise when the leftist readers of the far-left Toronto Star agree with me.
thestar.com Poll
Ottawa is considering reducing immigration in the face of rising unemployment. Is this a good idea?
Yes – 84%
No – 12%
Don’t know – 2%3606 votes
Of course, as I understand the left, their strong “yes” is tempered by other considerations. For example, accused terrorist Omar Khadr SHOULD be allowed in, and “re-integrated” back into Canadian society, and re-motivated by the values of what some credibly allege is his terrific terrorist-supporting family who are immigrants from Egypt. (The charming article in the Wikipedia encyclopedia begins like this: “The Khadr family (أسرة خضر) is a Canadian family noted for their ties to Osama bin Laden and alleged connections to al Qaeda,” and it includes the Khadr family-supplied picture, above left).
The real threat of Islamofascist terrorism doesn’t motivate Canadian leftists. Left-wing politics does.
By the way, I imagine that 2% who constantly “don’t know” in these polls are those who haven’t yet been briefed by their local NDP candidate’s office. The other 12% who voted “no” are those who have.
