Excellent suggested reading by forum participant BradB

A solid member and participant over in our forum section, BradB, posted about a superb (long!) essay he just read written by the brilliant thinker and writer Norman Podhoretz.  It really is important to read this essay as BradB suggests—I don’t care what political stripe you are.

If the liberals among us could drop—just for an hour or so— the emergency push of their gay ‘marriage’ legislation, and NDP MP Siksay’s sundry transexual and transgender rights legislation, and that urgent liberal-left drive to legalize pot-smoking among our youth,  they’d find that conservatives aren’t nearly as moronic as they’d love to believe.  In fact, they may find that giving one’s head a shake and looking in a mirror is the way to go for a while.

I printed out the 33 pages and read it over coffee.

The essay goes on to point out how this new Bush doctrine is a threat to everyone who has a world view that does not support it. Further, some people are put in a position where they have to hope the strategy taken by Bush (and hence, the United States) fails in order to validate their own world view. Worse yet, some people and groups are actively seeking to do whatever they can to see it fail (which means failure for the United States) for the sole reason of promoting that world view. We know that there are powers outside of the United States who oppose us, but Mr. Podhoretz points out that the most dangerous enemies are the ones within our (the USA) own borders.

The North Vietnamese claim to this day that the anti-war efforts in the USA were a key part of their strategy. They say that they would never have driven the US out of Vietnam if it were not for the sway in public opinion. The same is true for the insurgency in Iraq. There is no way in the world they can beat our military in combat. All they can hope (or all an terrorist can hope for) is to break their enemy’s will to fight. That is why their efforts, and the work of Michael Moore and many Democrats are in seek of the same goal. […]

Again, here’s the link to the essay:  It’s called The War Against World War IV
