DION: Reveals part of his hidden agenda

But he calls it “an evolution in thinking”.  Well of course it is, Monsieur Dion.

Prime Minister Harper gets the PTBC Quote of the Week Award for this partial reaction to the Stephan Dion Liberal tax increase and Soviet-style central planning and social engineering for better behavior plan (which is to say the “green shift” —wink! plan).

“First of all I just remind you that Mr. Dion went around the country for years, claiming he would never impose a carbon tax.  He couldn’t be believed then, and he cannot be believed now.  When he says there will be a carbon tax and it won’t affect gasoline and it won’t affect energy prices, this is nonsense.  Of course it will.  A carbon tax is a carbon tax.

PTBCwares C2007“And we don’t believe—as conservatives we don’t believe the way to deal with the problems of our economy is to impose new taxes!  And we do not believe the way to deal with higher energy costs is to impose taxed specifically on energy!  These are bad policies.

“And as I say, Mr. Dion has already broken his word, broken his word to his own party—he told his own party when he was seeking the leadership, he would not have a carbon tax—he criticized others members of his party for being in favor of one; now he admits that has been his plan all along.  And frankly if—God help us—he ever gets in office, he’ll put a carbon tax on gasoline and everything else. And it will not be ‘revenue neutral’.  And I have to say that.  You know, every politician that wants to impose a tax throughout history has claimed it will be ‘revenue neutral’.  It will NOT be revenue neutral.  The reason politicians put on new taxes is so they can get money.”

Well, to get money and to control the population and correct their behavior to suit one’s world view.

Maybe by “green shift”, Dion means shifting to red
