I’m just using my headline as an example of what I thought I would have seen regarding the Dingwall audit. The headline in the papers and other news media would be like that, I thought. Or, for example: “Liberal Party’s audit finds that government rules are designed to be a covert taxpayer rip-off”, but they’re not. At least not at the National Post, where it’s “Dingwall audit finds nothing wrong with expense claims”. Nothing wrong! Nothing! This is all “right” then!
Over at the liberal-left Toronto Star, it’s “`Exonerated’ Dingwall says he’ll sue”. He’s a victim!
At the Globe and Mail it’s “Dingwall audit finds no problems”. Nothing to see here folks!
At the state-run people’s web site, the CBC.ca, they say “Audit backs Dingwall’s expense claims”. Nothing to see here folks! No crack squad of reporters are capable of asking any questions about government policy! (Unlike their revelations in other “crises”, the likes of: Gurmant Grewal’s choice of Wal-Mart brand cassette tapes as opposed to a Canadian brand).
The liberal-friendly CTV says, “Dingwall’s expenses fall within rules: audit”. He’s right! He’s right! Vote liberal!
cnews.canoe.ca had…. nothing at all about it. There really is nothing to see here, folks, about this!
(UPDATE: The now have a headline for us: “Dingwall says he’s ‘completely exonerated’ by audit”).
Here’s part of the National Post story which is actually just a Canadian Press story:
OTTAWA—An external review has found that former Royal Canadian Mint president David Dingwall’s expenses fell within the Crown corporation’s guidelines.
A separate audit, conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers has concluded that Dingwall must reimburse the Mint for just over $2,500 in expenses incurred over a 30-month period.
As well, the audit found another $4,200 must be repaid due to a clerical payroll error.
Dingwall told The Canadian Press the report exonerates him, and he is considering suing MPs who portrayed his spending habits as an outrageous abuse of taxpayers’ dollars […]
